Atmocean, a company based out of Santa Fe, NM has arguably come up with a new wave driven pump that could create energy for as cheap as $0.024 per KWH, the cheapest the market has yet to see.
The concept involves using waves to generate hydraulic sea water pressure where the energy is converted to electricity on land rather than at each individual pump, allowing huge savings and a small environmental impact.
